Stress – Killer or Con

Is workplace Stress a killer or is it just an excuse? This is certainly an additional concern to those who are already suffering from work related stress and certainly the stigma of being perceived as a bludger or weak are probably the main reasons that many delay seeking help. As a Mindskills Therapist and Competence Coach I deal with the hapless victims of work and life related stress on a daily basis.
However, it has been my experience that the majority of clients wait until there is damaging physical evidence The problem is that stress is a succession of ever increasing symptoms and is easily treated if gotten early enough. A bit like a row of dominoes where one falls over and the rest follow on but remove just one and the toppling stops. The inevitable emotional train wreck is stopped in its tracks.

I have no doubt that unmanaged – Stress, left unchecked, is a Killer Condition. Not only that but even when the problems are not necessarily work related they are work affected.

So why do so many organisations and individuals see stress as a Con trick?

The answer is simple – they don’t see the other dominoes. For example – when a supervisor chastises an employee and that employee then disappears with “Work Related Stress” what they are not aware of are the many other dominoes that have already begun to topple and their flippant remark has just knocked over another. Not only that, but the other dominoes may not be linked to any other work related issues. So what happens is that we have the supervisor wondering what went wrong, the employer walking on eggshells and the stressed out employee heading for a total breakdown or the civil courts.

The Solution

The solution depends on when the sufferer seeks help. The cause is rarely the chastisement, remark or the stress situations at work or home but a lack of control over them. This is where The Mindskills Approach is essential. If damage has already occurred then we need to stop the rot. We need to remove the next domino in the sequence before we get to Serious Ill Health. For this we use Mindskills Therapy – a unique combination of Neuro-Linquistic Programming (NLP) and Intervention therapies – to build mental, physical and emotional strength. Then we rebuild the competence level through Competence Coaching. Competence Coaching is about rebuilding the life and work coping resources. The wrong solution is what many stress Counsellors and Therapists offer today – Imagine just for a moment that you are feeling the strain. You have a heavy workload and you are not coping too well. So you take out a few minutes to meditate and relax. You now feel great and you get back to work. However, the effect is only temporary. While you were relaxing the problem was growing and the conveyor belt of life was still running. All you did was increase the concentration of the pressures by not dealing with the problem. That is why the Mindskills Approach works for you. It helps you identify more efficient ways of managing your stressors. It provides you with the mental acuity and strength to solve your problems. The very problems that are slowly killing you. The longer you travel down the wrong road the greater the damage that needs to be repaired.

A Problem Ignored will Fester. A Problem Handled will Wither.

Handle Your Problems with The Mindskills Approach

The Mindskills Approach is extremely simple and yet so very effective. It works for every areas of your life and work. It is the modern solution to modern problems. The Mindskills Approach is like a Processor Upgrade for your Brain. Your brain operates your world and unless you learn how to use it, it will become overloaded. This overload is the seed of stress damage. This overload is what the causes the first domino to start falling.

5000 Year-Old Medical Secret Unearthed!

When you get sick, you go to the doctor. And the doctor will, of course, prescribe medicines. You will go and buy medicines. You take them, and hopefully, you get well.

This is how the health profession goes on nowadays – a cycle of diagnosis and prescription, a sort of ‘Pill for All Ills’ approach.

However, if they were to suggest that you take a herb for your medicine, you would probably say that that they were a quack.

But nowadays, studies are being conducted to see if there are really is any merit to what is called natural medicine.

Natural medicine is the use of natural methods, herbal medicines, and traditional practices to heal ailments. Every culture has a form of natural medicine. In ancient cultures, village medicine men served as the doctors of the community, passing on medical knowledge to the apprentices that followed them.

Many categories of the healing methods fall under natural medicine. Among these are traditional medicine, complementary medicine, and alternative medicine.

Usually, natural medicine refers to medical practices that were in place before the advent of modern medicine.

This includes herbal medicine, or phytotherapy, which is prevalent in Chinese, Ayurvedic (or Indo-Persian), and Greek (Hypocratic) medicine.

Upon the advent of modern medicine, many professionals discarded the use of herbs in favour of man-made medicine. The fact that these treatments are based on the healing properties of some herbs was forgotten.

For example, opium, digitalis, quinine, and aspirin all have their roots in traditional medicine.

A lot of natural medicine can be considered as a lost art. This does not mean that it has lost efficacy over time. In some cases, natural therapy is actually better than modern medicine. This leads some doctors to seriously consider and study the possible uses of natural medicine

Before we continue, it is important to stress that not all the natural remedies are legitimate. It would help to only try those remedies which have been thoroughly studied and are relatively risk free.

Take herbal medicine for example. There are many well-documented and studied herbal remedies available. However, only those that deal with minor ailments such as cough, colds, fever, skin rashes, and its ilk are likely to be recommended by health professionals. These remedies are sometimes superior to synthetic medicine. This is because herbal medicines are less likely to cause negative side effects but like all remedies, even Allopathic (from our Physicians) it pays to be careful.

Currently there are numerous organizations that study the effects and advocacy of natural medicine – among which is herbal medicine. Some governments and health agencies openly advocate the use of natural methods since they are inexpensive and relatively risk-free.

As their studies compile, more herbs and treatments are added to the list of accepted medicines. However, many herbs and treatments have been proven to be bogus medicine. This represents a challenge for both the user and the agencies because they have to ascertain that the treatments they either use or advocate are legitimate.

There exist today many alternative medical treatments that fall under natural medicine. However, not all of them have been proven to be effective. You could mention homeopathy, aromatherapy, acupuncture, and other alternative medical treatments. It would pay to consult the experts as to the legitimacy of these treatments.

Natural medicine should also be thought of as an accompanying medicine. Right now, the current collective medical thought suggests that natural medicine be used only to supplement accepted modern medical practices. In that case of minor ailments your expert we actually advise you to take natural therapies instead.

The practice of modern medicine revolves around diagnosing an illness and prescribing treatments for such. Natural medicine is helpful because it suggests that treatment be not necessarily given only when sick. Natural medicine strives to make each patient practice good health habits. These habits include good diet, healthy living, and the regular natural treatment.

It is this same line of thought that leads our parents to tell us to eat our vegetables. Yes, a healthy lifestyle and will do no harm to our well-being. And this is the foundation of natural medicine – may it be massage, herbal medicine, aromatherapy or others.

It is funny but true that science, in its quest for excellence, is studying the knowledge of sages past. This, surprisingly, leads us back to the remedies nature offers. The possibilities of finding remedies to everyday illnesses in natural medicine are encouraging. So staying tuned to studying these remedies is worthwhile until we can verify that these therapies are truly helpful to our health and our society.

In conclusion. We can be relatively secure in our knowledge that natural medicines and remedies are safe. However, where we need to be careful is in choosing the right remedy, the right strength and the right mixture. To be certain we could concoct our own or we could rely on a third party to prepare them individual concoctions for us but when we create our own we need to study the right ingredients, parts of the plant (root, stem, leaf, etc) and the right harvesting time. When we rely on others then we must trust that they also know the most effective method for the creation of the remedy and these can be expensive and outside our affordable price range. This is why I strongly recommend Healthwise Online Health Stores. They are a reputable company that only deal in the best. Their juices are not pasteurised so they work. Their capsules are made from the finest ingredients and not full of bulker agents like talc.
